The kids went on a field trip this week to the Atlas Theatre to see a show called Aquarium. Everyone really enjoy themselves!

Thanks to all of the families that applied to CHCNS for the 2012-2013 school year. Families have notified via email if they received a place and have until May 1 to send a deposit of first and last month’s tuition to our PO Box.

If you’re interested in joining our waitlist, please fill out an application and you’ll be added to the waitlist in the order that your application and application fee was received. (For clarity — if two families submit an application on the same day, but one sends a check before the other, based on PO mark or on submission to the online payment system, the family with the earlier application fee will be higher in the waitlist.)

Thank you for considering CHCNS. We are parent-run cooperative preschool for 3-year-olds (must be 3 by December 31 of current school year), located physically within – but not affiliated with – Watkins Elementary School. We are structured-play based with music instruction and field trips. Our teacher Ms. Frances is a well-loved Capitol Hill icon.

We’ll be hosting an open house on February 13th and 14th from 9:30am-11:00am. Please come to either day to see what the classroom is like and chat with current parents about the school. You are also welcome to read about duty parent responsibilities.

To apply, fill out the application form, and send a check for $35 to CHCNS. If you would rather pay online, you can pay $38 here. February 27 is the deadline for both the application form and the application fee (to have arrived in the mail).

In early March a lottery will be held and parents will be notified promptly. To secure your child’s spot, a deposit is due on May 1.

School is starting again after a fun winter break.

The kids had a busy December. After a fun Thanksgiving celebration, December was full of field trips (Botanical Gardens and Union Station), arts and crafts projects, and learning about holidays and wintertime.

To start the new year, the kids are going on another museum field trip and getting back into the swing of things.

CHCNS will be at the annual MOTH Hill School Night at the Hill Center Tuesday November 15 from 6:00-8:30pm. Stop by and see us!
